Is government service worth the efforts? How is the life change after government job?

Many people think of getting a government job and work very hard to get into the service, like it will settle everything in their life. Although it is true, that the government job ensures family well-being, social security and a reputation in the circle, but only getting into the government service is not enough for success. The salary that a government servant get is proportional and mostly higher to the work done by him/her. Government employee’s salary is good enough to have a good life-standards. Although a working professional in private sector may get a higher paying package but employees working in private entities face their bosses who are not necessarily concerned for a well-fare society they are more concerned about getting the work done and here comes the issue of stress, frustration, anxiety and anger. On the other hand the government job is settled one because the government is more concerned about well being of their employees. But many challenges arise, after getting into the government service, which includes handling of the pressure from higher officers dealing with the workload, coping with regular transfers. Some major issues faced by the government employees are as following-
Transfers- Many people after joining the government have one major complain that is transfers. Many employees who are serving far away from their home they find it difficult to commute daily to office, which adds to extra expenses on their pocket. And those who are posted far away live in a rental room away from their families, they are unable to give time to their families. Most of the government jobs are transferable, and many are posted in faraway villages without any amenities. Thus even some time basic needs are missing this cases great trouble to women employees and employees with young children.
Work Pressure- Secon major complain is about the ‘pressure’ from the higher officers to do things they are not assigned to do. This is no new thing that a government employee is at a powerfull position even at the lowest level of service. Signature of government employee has a big value. Government documents can make or break any thing. Some time officeses are running short of staff and workload is higher, which causes the higher officer to assign the available staff other work that is not in their work list. sometime the government give additional charg to carryout other work. The employee does not get any double income for the work done in additional charge. only a little allowance is given which is not satisfactory to the work done.
Low salary in probation period- Third major complain is about smaller salary in initial years as many of the state government keeps the salary almost half during the probation period which is usually of two years. The calculation of salary is little complex in government filed. Every thing is calculated on basic salary. the allowences are given on basic salary. other than that there is tour allowance, dining allowance in official travelling time. Some employees for whome uniform is compulsory they get uniform allowance. But in most of the state government the employee does not get any allowance. they get a fix payment efined by the pay commission. It is possible that during the probation period an officer get a fix pay which is less than half of the salary.
Although at the high insight a person retiring frim a government job appreciates the service and the fulfillment they have experienced. Usually a government employee advices his child to join government service. And at the completion of his/her full service he/ she believes it to be worth the efforts made to get into the service.
